We are almost there folks - four more days until Christmas holidays.  Remember that tomorrow we start Secret Santa.  Please bring your person a small surprise that is red.  Do NOT sign your name on the gift but please make sure you write their name so that gifts do not get confused.  Wednesday will be something green.  Thursday is something yummy and Friday is a small gift of your choice.  Do not spend a lot of money.  This is supposed to be fun, thoughtful and tasty but not expensive.

Good evening everyone.  This is a reminder that we are going to the Campbell musical, "Mamma Mia" tomorrow afternoon.  Since we are leaving at the beginning of the lunch hour, we all need to have a lunch at school that we will be eating before the lunch hour.  Please do not forget.  I do not want to be distracted from the show by the sounds of your rumbling stomachs.  Also, please make sure that you have already paid online for this field trip.

Hello everyone.  This is reminder that this Friday, November 15th is our class potluck.  If you haven't already told your parents about this, you probably don't want to wait until 10:30 pm on Thursday night.  Generally, that doesn't go over very well.  Make sure you understand what you need to do with the dish you bring.  Does it need to be refrigerated?  Do you need to heat it up again?  Just so you know, there's no such thing as non-perishable chicken nuggets.  Also, please make sure your name is on the dish that you bring, as well as on any serving utensils so that everything makes it back home again.  And thank your parents for their help!!!!!!!

Good afternoon everyone.  I hope you had a good Monday.  We have a few fundraising days coming up this week to keep in mind.  Tuesday is hat day, Wednesday is gum day and Thursday is wacky hair day.  For each day that you want to participate in, please bring $1.00.  This money is going to the United Way.

Also happening this week, our Remembrance Day ceremony, which will take place on Friday, at 10:45 am.  Wreath bearers will be chosen on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Please remember that there will be no school on Monday, November 11th for Remembrance Day.

Hello Everyone and welcome to winter.  As mentioned in a previous post, please come dressed appropriately for the winter weather.  Everyone is expected to be out during the recess breaks.  Hiding in the stairwell, bathrooms, and change rooms is not allowed.

We have a busy week as we prepare for Halloween.  The pumpkin carving contest starts tomorrow and runs until the 31st.  You are expected to do all the carving at home and bring your finished creations in for voting.  We are also running the Gift Basket Raffle again this year.  The gift basket themes are as follows:  Sports, Movie & Candy, Mastermind package, and Spa package.  The tickets can be purchased during the recess breaks (there's one good reason to be inside during recess"), 4 tickets for $1.00.  All proceeds will be donated to the United Way.

A reminder to Umoja students - we have an extra rehearsal at 8:00 am tomorrow morning in preparation for our performance on Friday morning.

Also happening on Friday - hotdogs and pajamas.  Anyone wishing to order a hotdog or two . . . or five, needs to have their order into to SchoolCashOnline by Tuesday morning.  Feel free to wear your pajamas to school (Umoja students can change into pj's after our performance).

Good afternoon everyone.  Since the weather is getting colder, it's probably a good idea to wear more clothes . . . just a thought.  Hiding in the washrooms to avoid going out for recess is generally frowned upon.

Keep your eyes on the Homework updates and Important Dates for the month so that you don't miss anything.  If you are reading this blog on the mobile version, you probably can't see what I'm talking about.  Switch to the desktop version and you will find what you are looking for on the right hand side of the page.  It seems that everyday we have at least two students who are not prepared with homework done.  I hate to see anyone fall behind so please keep checking in and stay on top of your assignments.  If you are finding that you have too much homework, here's a thought for you . . . USE YOUR CLASS TIME BETTER!!!!!!!!  You know I always give enough of it.

Good afternoon everyone.  Thank you to my entire homeroom for your fabulous leadership at the Orange Shirt Day assembly today.  I was impressed with your maturity.  You really set the bar high for the rest of the school.

And now for something that some of you could work on . . . showering!!!!  It would be fabulous if before you return to school tomorrow morning, you showered, using soap. Wash your hair (shampoo works wonders), apply deodorant and put on clean clothes.  Please, Please Please!!!!  And if you don't mind . . . repeat that procedure each and every day.

Good afternoon everyone.  This is a reminder that all clothing orders for Jack MacKenzie wear is due tomorrow (Friday, September 20).  This includes any orders for senior sweater orders.  Tomorrow is also the deadline to return the forms to be included in the student directory.

Some of you have not yet remembered to bring photos, magazine pictures, etc. to complete your art portfolio.  Our final work period for this project is tomorrow afternoon.  Please bring the needed supplies.

Hello everyone.  Tomorrow is tobogganing day for Phys. Ed.  Come dressed to be out in the snow and bring your sleds.

Happy New Year!!!!  I hope you all had a fabulous break.  I know it's hard to get back into the routine of getting up with an alarm clock but thanks for being here, on time today.  We have a couple of skating times this month so please make sure to pay online for these trips and find a pair of skates that fit you, if you don't already own a pair.  We also really need you to return your "Intent to Ski" letter so we know how many students to book buses for.  Keep your eyes on the Important Dates for January and Homework Updates.  Have a great day everyone.
